  • Battle Brothers (PC) — The Hexed: Three-Skull Contracts and Wolf Hunts

Battle Brothers (PC) — The Hexed: Three-Skull Contracts and Wolf Hunts

Battle Brothers is still the benchmark for turn-based mercenary management on PC, and this leg of The Hexed campaign is where the company starts taking on fights it probably shouldn’t — a three-skull bounty and a wilderness full of teeth.

    Three-skull risk, direwolf reward

After re-gearing the company and picking up delivery work through Sandholm and Dornland, The Hexed commit to a dangerous three-skull bounty to clear a fortified brigand camp — the kind of contract that pays well precisely because it can wipe a roster. The assault goes the company’s way, bringing hard-fought victories and a couple of fresh recruits, before the group heads into the wilderness to track down a pack of direwolves. What makes this episode worth watching isn’t just the two big fights; it’s how the campaign layer keeps applying pressure between them — picking contracts you can actually survive, leveling and slotting perks, and deciding when a payout is worth the risk of a dead brother. That tension between greed and caution is the whole game, and a three-skull marker is Battle Brothers daring you to overreach. This run threads it, but only just.

Battle Brothers (PC) — The Hexed: Southern Deserts & The Hangman’s Bounty

Battle Brothers is still the benchmark for turn-based mercenary management on PC, and this entry in The Hexed campaign heads somewhere the game does especially well: the unforgiving southern deserts, where contracts pay well and hyenas outnumber you.

    Desert contracts and hard lessons

Picking up on Day 6 in Qadum, the company takes cargo and beast-hunting contracts around Tarwa and Kabira, hires fresh blood to replace fallen brothers, and fights its way through nomad cutthroats and back-to-back hyena packs before driving off raiders at the Long Past Remnants. What makes this stretch worth watching isn’t any single fight — it’s the loop underneath it: level-ups and perk choices, equipping and selling loot, crafting at the taxidermist, and constantly rebuilding a roster that the desert keeps thinning out. That churn is the heart of Battle Brothers, and it’s why the game rewards patience over heroics; a single greedy engagement against a hyena pack can undo an hour of careful company-building. By the wrap-up on Day 13 the company is bruised but still standing, which in this game counts as a win.
